What is QuickBooks File Doctor?

What are problems are you experiencing in QuickBooks File Doctor Tool?

  1.   You can’t open your company file and getting one of the following error messages: -6150, -6000 -82, -6000 -305, -6000 -301, -6147, or -6130.
  2. The list for your clients, vendors, or employees is either missing or blank.
  3.  While opening QuickBooks over a network or multi-user setup issues, you face an error. (The common error codes are H101, H202, H303, or H505)
  4.  You can open sample company files but your file is badly damaged and will not open.

How to open the QuickBooks File Doctor?

Step 1: Download the QuickBooks File Doctor to your device.
Step 2: Double-click on the downloaded file (qbfd.exe) and follow the prompts on-screen to set up the QuickBooks File Doctor.
Step 3: It will open automatically once the install process is over. However, if it doesn’t, you must find a green wrench icon in your Windows taskbar.
Step 4: From the drop-down list find your company file (it usually contains the last 10 opened companies). If you fail to find it, choose the browse button and locate it manually to still continue.
Step 5: Now, you have two options to choose from:

    • Both file damage and network connectivity:  If you see a 6xxx error (such as -6150, -6000 -82, -6000 -305, -6000 -301, -6147, or -6130) while you attempt to open your company file (data file problems) or think your company file is damaged.
    • Network connectivity only: If you are a multi-user setup user and receive a QuickBooks Error H202 (or H303/H505) error while you try to open your company file (network errors) in Multi-User mode.

Step 6: Before you click on Next, enter the Admin Password for the company file, whenever asked.

Step 7: Next, click on Host/Server or Workstation. Remember, you must select the right option.

    • Pick Workstation if you are running File Doctor on a workstation (your QuickBooks file is physically not stored/hosted on this machine)
    • Pick Server if you are running File Doctor on a Server device (the QuickBooks file is physically stored on this machine). You must also pick Server if you are single-user and QuickBooks is installed on your device

Step 8: When you are asked to share your company file, Pick one of the following options:

    • Yes: In case you are running File Doctor on the device hosting the company file.
    • No: In case you are running File Doctor on a computer that is not hosting the company file.

Step 9: Wait until File Doctor completes diagnosing.
